Are you excited about your summer of dance? If so, you are probably looking forward to spending more time in the dance studio. But maybe your thoughts of summer do not include dance and you are just burnt out. If this is the case, here are three ways to get inspired to dance once again:
- Watch a Dance Show.
There are so many dance shows on television now, and tons of videos online. Find some good dance performances to watch and learn from what you see. You’ll give your body some rest while being inspired by other dancers.
- Attend a Performance.
Go to see a professional production of dancers. The music, stage and dances will help you remember why you love to perform. Nothing beats live theater to get your heart racing as a dancer.
- Take an Easy Class.
If you are a serious dancer, you are probably always pushing yourself to do better and work really hard in class. This can make you frustrated about your skills.
When this happens, find an easier class to take for a couple of weeks. You’ll remember how much your skills have improved since you were in a lower-level class, and it will give you a confidence boost. Then, go back to your usual, tough classes with a new attitude.
What Does Your Summer of Dance Look Like?
While summer is a time that many of us look forward to dance competitions, performance camps and hours of training at the studio, you may feel like you need a break from dance. When this happens, stop your usual routine and get some rest. Your mind and body are probably trying to tell you something. Then, watch good dance performances live and on television and video. Take an easy class just for fun.
These activities will help you realize your love of dance once again. And hopefully, you’ll stop feeling overwhelmed and become inspired to dance again soon!
